"Visions" is a play, but it is not dinner theater -- in fact, it is not even theater -- it's a play so real, it can bring people to tears. It made its midwest debut right here in Topeka Thursday night.
Everyone who was in the play was from the Topeka area. They're local volunteers who only had a week to learn their lines. it's a play about addictions -- and overcoming those addictions.
Recovery is the backbone of the "Visions" play -- using volunteers and addiction professionals to tell the story of putting lives back together.
The volunteer actors don't take payment -- or credit -- they only use their first names in the credits.
It is really about taking a taboo subject that has been in the dark too long -- and bringing it into the light of day.
