FORT RILEY, Kan. - The Department of Defense announced today that the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, the "Dragon" Brigade, has deployment orders in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The deployment involves more than 3,500 Soldiers and is scheduled to last 12 months.
For security purposes, the specific deployment dates are not releasable. The brigade's deployment window is spring or summer 2009.
Families will be provided full support from Fort Riley and the 1st Inf.
Div. Fort Riley's state-of-the-art Army Community Service facility serves as a central support center for families of deployed Soldiers.
The unit also will stand up a formal rear detachment command that will oversee all unit support functions on Fort Riley.
