WIth the presidential election less than 40 days away, the state senate race closer to home is heating up, too.
19th District State Senator Anthony Hensley spoke at an NAACP meeting today. He talked to 13 News before the meeting about his commitment to minority issues.
"I'm going to try and minimize the politics and talk more about the policy of health care and energy and of course education because we are here at the Brown v. Board of Education historic site and education is a very important issue in the minority community," State Sen. Hensley said.
Shari Weber is State Sen. Hensley's opponent in the race. She said the following statement about minority issues and the upcoming election.
"I intend to continue to give back to minority communities and ensure equality for all citizens of Kansas and the nation with my public service," Weber said.
