ISP Identifies 2 Troopers Wounded in Shootout

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - Illinois State Police have released the names of two troopers wounded in a southern Illinois shootout that killed a suspect.

Brian Dickmann, who has been with ISP for nine years, is in stable condition at Carbondale's Memorial Hospital.

Darren Lindsey, a 20-year veteran, has been treated and released.

Master Sergeant Brian Ley said one trooper was shot in the head, and the other was shot in the arm. He would not say who received what injuries.

The men were shot Thursday while serving a search warrant in a Williamson County drug case.

Officers during the raid announced who they were but a man inside the house, identified as 61-year-old William Patrich, opened fire and struck two troopers. Patrich was killed in the gunfire exchange.
