Washburn Business School honored a graduate Thursday. Mayo Schmidt is a native Kansan and now heads Viterra, a successful agribusiness based in Canada.
The school has named him an Executive in Residence and Schmidt has been a generous donor to the university. He supplied funding to build a life-like trading classroom in order for business students to gain a true understanding of the global economy.
Though shares of Schmidt's company have fallen during the most recent financial crisis, the company has remained stable.
