(AP) An upstate New York fire department smells rats after one of the rodents bit the nose of a dozing firefighter.
Glens Falls acting Mayor John Diamond says the firefighter awoke Saturday with a pain and saw blood and "two little spike marks" on his nose.
Officials say the firefighter has been given a tetanus shot and antibiotics and is back on the job.
The fire station will be on a reduced schedule as an exterminator and state health officials work to remedy the apparent rat infestation.
Meanwhile, the station's sleeping and dining quarters are closed.
