FEMA Giving State $63.5 Million to Repair Ice Storm Damage

The State of Kansas is getting federal relief to repair damages from last December's ice storm.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Monday it is giving $63.5 million in federal public assistance to the state.

65 counties were made eligible for the assistance last February.

The FEMA funds cover 75% of eligible costs.

The state covers 10%, and the local applicant covers the remaining 15%.

The cost of the recovery effort was more than $85 million.
