Katrina Refugees Make Homes In Topeka

It has been three years since Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans. Lives were lost, property was destroyed, and people were forced to evacuate.

For Carlos Martinez, he went from being a full-time jazz musician in New Orleans to being a full-time substitute teacher in Topeka.

Big time change for the jazz lover.

Even children, such as Javi Williams remembers what it was like when he was evacuated. He said he remembers the storm, and remembers "freaking out."

Katrina refugees meet up every year to remember. Its a cathartic experience.
