Autism Focus Group Report on Community Needs
Helping families deal with a diagnosis of autism was the focus of a summit in Topeka Friday.
Easter Seals Capper Foundation hosted a regional summit on autism. The group brought together caregivers and professionals from agencies throughout Northeast Kansas.
The group considered community needs identified during a series of earlier focus groups: parent support, public awareness, education and training, direct services, service providers, transition services, school programs and funding. Attendees then identified resources available to meet those needs for people with autism spectrum disorders and considered recommendations for additional resources or programs that may be needed to meet those needs.
