Sebelius Honors Texas Disaster Proclamation for Storm Relief

TOPEKA, Kan. - Governor Kathleen Sebelius has directed the State of Kansas to honor the State Disaster Proclamation signed on September 8, 2008 by Governor Rick Perry of Texas, along with the commercial motor carrier waiver.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the communities affected by Hurricane Ike. To ease the recovery efforts, we’re joining Governor Perry in suspending the motor carrier requirements,” Sebelius said.

The waiver suspends certain weight and registration requirements in the State of Texas until October 7, 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/emergency/Texas-IKE-Gov-ltr-to-Delisi-Sep08.pdf.
