School Wins Summer Reading Award

Reading over the summer paid off for one Topeka school.

The Topeka Shawnee County Library presented Mater Dei Catholic School with the award for being the 2008 summer reading program champion.

The award is presented yearly to the Shawnee County school with the highest participation.

Before the ceremony Thursday kids in kindergarten through second grade had story time.

Andrea Hillebert, the principal spray painted her hair blue. She promised students she would do that to encourage them to participate.
