The Kansas Board of Regents wants lawmakers to hike higher education funding four percent. But they're concerned they could be facing cuts in uncertain economic times.

The Regents' recommendation to add 33 million dollars for the next fiscal year would include universities, community colleges and technical schools.

But a downturn in the economy has reduced state revenue below projections. Governor Kathleen Sebelius will review whether to include the recommendation in her 2009 budget proposal.
