Wet shoes and clothes were part of the proof of the hands-on education many students received Thursday.
About 1,100 4th grade students converged on Garfield Park to take part in a water festival.
The students learned about water-related issues ranging from conservation to pollution.
Booths were set-up across the park as kids from 21 schools listened to various groups give presentations. 13 Meteorologist Amy Schmidt was one of the VIPs on hand for the event.
