Democrats Respond to First Lady's Visit

Kansas Democrats are upset that Laura Bush helped Lynn Jenkins with a private fund-raiser.

The Kansas Democratic Party executive director says taxpayers are left paying the bill for what they deem a private party.

Congresswoman Nancy Boyda's Campaign responded officially with this statement:
"We respect Laura Bush as a national leader, and if she were visiting Kansas as a public figure, that would be a real opportunity for our state. But the sole purpose of this visit is to pose for $7,500 photo ops at a closed-door, political fundraiser. It's a private event for private gain, so it's simply outrageous for Lynn Jenkins to stick Kansas taxpayers with the bill."
