Air Force 2 landed at Forbes Field just after 1:00 Tuesday afternoon. First Lady Laura Bush emerged from the 737 shortly after. She was greeted by General Deborah Rose who is the Director of the Joint Forces Headquarters for the Kansas National Guard. Col. Kerry Taylor who is the Vice Commander of the 190th Air Refueling wing was also present as well as Mayor Bill Bunten.

Mrs. Bush presented the President's Volunteer Service Award to Kathy Dechand who has worked with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri. The First Lady then got in an SUV where her motorcade escorted her to the event.

Upon her return to Forbes Field the First Lady took time to shake hands and take pictures with members of the 190th Air Refueling Wing and their families. She autographed pictures of her dog and cats for one little girl.
