AG Says Abortion Doctor Allegations "Disturbing"

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Attorney General Steve Six says allegations made by abortion provider Dr. George Tiller about a criminal case he faces are ``disturbing.''

But Six isn't saying much more about that criminal case.

Six's office is pursuing 19 misdemeanor charges against Tiller, who operates a clinic in Wichita and is one of a few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortions.

Tiller has asked a judge in Sedgwick County to either suppress evidence or dismiss the charges because of how the case has been handled. He alleges that the investigation of him has been tainted by a former attorney general's anti-abortion politics.

Six said he's still planning to move forward with the case but had little else to say Tuesday.
