Flooding in Emporia Causes Headaches

Flooding in Emporia has closed Southbound Highway 99 and Highway 57. The Cottonwood River swelled over its banks flooding the Sodens Grove area of Emporia. Officials say the highway will remain closed at least through Monday night.

Much of Lyon County has been flooded after all of the rain over the weekend.

Officials tell us Southbound Highway 99 and Highway 57 was closed late last night.

The Cottonwood River swelled over its banks flooding the Sodens Grove area of Emporia.

Citizens in the area say they are used to flooding every few years.

The high water has complicated the commute for some workers.

Officials say the highway will remain closed at least through Monday night.
