TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Kansas Speedway and Camping World have
donated 1,000 tickets to members of the Kansas National Guard for
upcoming races at the track.
The tickets are for the NASCAR races on the weekend of September 27th. The tickets will be given to troops on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The donation was announced Monday morning at a Statehouse news conference where Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed a proclamation declaring this Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.
“We have a lot of NASCAR fans in the Kansas National Guard,” Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, Kansas adjutant general, said. “I know our soldiers and airmen always appreciate such generous donations. They really have a good time at these events.”
“I’m honored to be able to make this presentation on behalf of Camping World,” Kansas Speedway President Jeff Boerger said. “Both Kansas Speedway and Camping World understand the sacrifices the National Guard members and their families make on a daily basis which allows us to do what we love. In addition to seeing some great racing action, this will provide family time for the National Guard members and their families.”
