One Dead in Standoff between Deputy, Armed Man in SW Missouri

STRAFFORD, Mo. (AP) The Missouri Highway Patrol is expected to
investigate the death of a man who was shot by a Webster County sheriff's deputy.

The sheriff's department says 44-year-old Richard Parker pointed a loaded rifle at the officer Saturday and threatened several times to kill him. The officer fired one shot at Parker and killed him.

The deputy was responding to a disturbance call when Parker came out of the house with the gun.
