SEOUL, South Korea - South Korean news reports say North Korea's Kim Jong Il had brain surgery after suffering a stroke last month. The reports say foreign doctors, possibly from China and France, performed the operation after the communist leader collapsed around
August 15th.

Kim's condition reportedly has improved. However, South Korea's
largest daily (Chosun Ilbo) says that Kim was left with ``partial
paralysis.''

On Wednesday night, the office of South Korean President Lee
Myung-bak said it received intelligence reports that the
66-year-old Kim is on the road to recovery from a stroke and still
in control of his isolated country's communist regime.
