A prominent anti-racist activist spoke at the Brown v. Board of Education today.
Tim Wise is the author of the 2007 book "White Like ME: Reflections on a Race from a Privileged Son."
A collection of his essays was also released this month.
He has spent time teaching people effective methods for getting rid of racism in their surroundings.
His main theme today was that Americans need to talk about the problems about race that we face.
Wise said that "we've got to have a conversation now, because if we don't, it just makes things worse."
The speech was a Brown Bag lunch event and was free and open to the public.
Wise also spent time today with students and faculty of Washburn University.
