Governor Says State Could Handle Emergency, Despite Guard Equipment Overseas

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) - Governor Sebelius says about half of the Kansas National Guard equipment diverted to overseas military deployments has yet to be returned or replaced.

The governor said that in terms of responding to a disaster, Kansas is "in pretty good shape."

But she said that while equipment levels are better, the state needs to continue asking for more.
