TOPEKA, Kan. - The man who ran from authorities near I-70 and Valencia Road Thursday left behind more than his shoes.
Shawnee County Sheriff Deputies pulled the man over for a traffic stop and when they began to question him about a suspicious package, he took off on foot into a wooded area.
The man left the vehicle he was driving, which had california plates.
Deputies say the man left $20,000, drug paraphernalia and his female passenger inside the vehicle.
A joint search for the hispanic man between the sheriffs office, Highway Patrol and Topeka Police came up empty. The driver lost his shoes while running from authorities.
