MOUND CITY, Kan. (AP) _ A 16-year-old Eagle Scout is charged in the shooting death of his father at their eastern Kansas farm.
Linn County prosecutors said Christopher Wottlin on Tuesday was charged as a juvenile with unintentional but reckless second-degree murder. The boy was arrested Sept. 1 after police found his father Robert Wottlin shot to death at their farm near Centerville.
The elder Wottlin was a retired Army officer and assistant scoutmaster who lived at the farm with Christopher and a 13-year-old brother.
Prosecutor John Sutherland said he did not know yet whether he would attempt to have the 16-year-old tried as an adult.
