A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NORTHEASTERN KANSAS UNTIL 10:00PM CDT.
Despite her claims that she simply didn't see them on the highway, 49 year old Ramona Morgan was found guilty of reckless second-degree murder and aggravated battery by Lawrence jurors this afternoon. She was on trial in the September 11, 2007 highway work zone deaths of Rolland Griffith of El Dorado and Tyrone Korte of Seneca. They were struck and killed on the job a year ago Thursday near the crossing of Highways 56 and 59 south of Lawrence.
Morgan's battery conviction was for the injuries to a third construction worker on the scene that day. She was also convicted last April on felony fleeing charges in Osage County for the police chase that followed the accident.
Morgan will be sentenced in Douglas County Court November 6th on the murder and battery charges.
