The Kansas State Fair opened today in Hutchinson, and visitors may notice some changes this year. Among them - no more auto racing after concerns over noise and safety.
There will still be classic rock concerts however. Styx and Kansas play tonight, and Poison will be on-stage Sunday.
Visitors can also now find shade in the heart of the fairgrounds thanks to a new open-air pavilion.
Also new - a text-messaging contest and a five minute helicopter ride over the fairgrounds that costs $40/person.
Returning are the usual fair favorites such as pig races, and food fair.
