FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) _ Army officers, military historians and leading academics gather later this month at Fort Leavenworth
to discuss issues in U.S. military stability operations.
The event is hosted by the fort's Combat Studies Institute. It coincides with the pending release of the new Army field manual on stability operations.
It's the sixth annual symposium hosted by the institute, which is part of the Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth. It will run from September 16th to 18th.
Participants will discuss the Army and other government agencies and their efforts to achieve national goals in peace and war within a historical context. They also will discuss the challenges of merging military and government functions.
