Testimony Continues in Highway Hit-and-Run Trial

Jurors heard their first full day of testimony Wednesday in the trial for a woman charged in the hit and run deaths of two highway workers.

Ramona Morgan faces two counts of reckless second degree murder in Douglas County Court. Prosecutors say she was driving the vehicle that hit and killed Tyrone Korte and Rolland Griffith in a work zone on Highway 59 south of Lawrence last September.

The first witness in the case took the stand Tuesday afternoon. The trial is expected to last about a week.

Morgan was convicted in April in Osage County for charges related to a police chase that followed the hit and run.
