When the latest technology causes a popularity frenzy - like the Apple iPhone 3G - the Better Business Bureau says it's time to beware scammers.
The BBB says to avoid being ripped off, only buy the electronic device at an authorized store, never wire money as payment for a second hand iPhone online, don't trust hackers who have found ways to use software not authorized by apple, and use the "Apps Store" in iTunes -it's the only authorized distributor of applications.
In addition to Apple and AT&T stores, Best Buy will begin selling iPhones September 7.
The BBB has more advice to avoid getting ripped off when it comes to the latest technology at its web site, www.bbb.org.
