Westar Rate Hearing Tuesday Evening in Salina

SALINA, Kan. (AP) - The first of three public hearings on Westar Energy's rate hike request is at 7 o'clock tonight at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Salina.

Westar has applied for a 177 million-dollar electric rate increase that would add around $10 to the average residential bill.

Hearings are scheduled for Topeka tomorrow and Wichita on Thursday.
