Testimony got underway Tuesday in the trial of a woman accused in the hit-and-run deaths of two highway workers south of Lawrence.

49-year old Ramona Morgan faces two counts of reckless second-degree murder in Douglas County for the September 11th, 2007 deaths in a work zone on U.S. Highway 59 near Pleasant Grove. State highway worker Tyrone Korte of Seneca and contractor's employee Rolland Griffith of El Dorado died.

Morgan was convicted by an Osage County jury in April on charges of fleeing police. Prosecutors say Morgan fled the accident scene, and led authorities on a chase that ended in Osage County.

In Douglas County court Tuesday, attorneys selected a jury and delivered opening statements before the first witness took the stand. Testimony will continue Wednesday.
