New Kansas House Chamber Voting System Not Received Well by All
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A new computerized system that will record the votes of Kansas house members is already drawing some complaints.
The system cost $1.5 million - or more than $12,500 per legislator. The Kansas Taxpayer Network says that money could have been better spent on other things, such as education.
But supporters say the new system is replacing one installed in 1979 that could be repaired only by a man in South Dakota. And they say the old system broke down five times during last year's legislative session.
