CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) A jury trial is scheduled to begin later this month for Missouri Department of Corrections fugitive apprehension agent Steven Julian, who is accused in the death of a man he was seeking to take into custody.
The involuntary manslaughter trial begins Sept. 29th in Fulton on a change of venue from Cape Girardeau County. Julian could face up to four years in prison if convicted.
Julian is charged in the February shooting death of 23-year-old Zachary Snyder at a Cape Girardeau apartment complex.
The charges followed a coroner's inquest where a jury ruled that Julian's use of deadly force was not justified when he allegedly shot Snyder, who was unarmed, in the back as he turned to run. Julian testified he couldn't see Snyder's left hand and thought he was in danger.
