Sunday Night Shooting Victim Identified

The Topeka Police Dept. released the name of the man who was shot in the central part of the city over the weekend.

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) -- The Topeka Police Dept. released the name of the man who was shot in the central part of the city over the weekend.

They identified him as 29 year-old Darton Andrew Fields, although they weren't able to give an update on his condition - other than he is still alive.

Officers found Fields in the 1200 block of SW Buchanan around 9:15 p.m. Sunday night after he called 911 and told dispatchers he had been shot.

He was listed in serious condition when he was taken to a local hospital.

Topeka Police are investigating and looking for the person responsible for shooting the victim. Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 785-368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 785-234-0007.
