Scranton Man Flees Traffic Stop

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Scranton man is in custody Thursday morning after he lead police on a short chase through parts of SE Topeka.

The Topeka Police Department says that around 11:40 Wednesday night officers were about to stop a 1996 Grand Mercury in the 2900 block of SE Kansas for a traffic violation when the car took off.

Officers chased the car for about ten minutes until it ran into a privacy fence in the 3000 block of SE Wisconsin.

The driver has been identified as Craig Allen Chenoweth, 30 of Scranton, tried to run from police but was quickly taken into police custody.

Chenoweth was charged with felony fleeing and elude, obstruction, criminal possession of a firearm, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
