FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (WIBW)-- Marcus McGowan, the man arrested in connection with the death of a 5 year old Leavenworth girl has been charged with First Degree Felony Murder according to Major Dan Nicodemus, Deputy Chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.
Additional charges include:
Two counts of Aggravated Assault On A Police Officer
One count of Aggravated Endangerment Of A Child
One count of Criminal Possession Of A Firearm
One count of Fleeing and Eluding
Officials added that the KBI has no evidence that law enforcement shot either the car or the young girl.
The shooting followed a short standoff after McGowan crashed his SUV through construction barricades.
McGowan was wounded in a shootout with police and was taken to a Kansas City hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
