Both are in elementary school students; one who attends Avondale East Elementary and the other Randolph Elementary.
District officials say both students only had one of their rounds of shots, but children aren't the only ones contracting the disease.
Today Douglas County health officials say they're looking at 28 possible cases.
Many of those people had already had both immunizations.
Sharon Watson with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment says the Center for Disease Control is looking into why so many people between 20 and 30 are who've had their immunizations are getting mumps, "That's something the CDC and others will be looking into to see if there’s something going on with the vaccine at this time we don't have any information indicating that's the case but we'll be looking into that."
But for now she advises parents to get their children immunized and for everyone to wash their hands
