TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) What turned out to be a toy gun put a Topeka Middle School on lock down Tuesday.
Students at Robinson Middle School reported seeing a classmate with a handgun around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday morning.
USD 501 Director of Communications Ron Harbaugh confirmed that a school resource officer at the school found the student in his classroom, and determined he had a plastic, toy BB gun with no BB's.
The lock down lasted for 10 minutes. As for discipline, district officials say appropriate measures are being taken against the student.
