(HLNtv.com) -- A 32-year-old driver involved in a fatal car accident in North Carolina last Thursday posted to Facebook just seconds before her death, police Captain Mike Kirk confirmed to CNN Monday.

"We find it very difficult to think that it didn't play a role," Kirk said.

Courtney Sanford's friends and family told investigators about social media activity that appeared to be from Sanford around the time of the crash, CNN affiliate WGHP reported. Police then began investigating the timing of those posts and the timing of the accident, said Kirk.

Kirk wouldn't confirm how many messages she sent, but said Sanford's last post to the social media site was at 8:33 a.m. ET on Thursday, and that police in High Point received a call a minute later, at 8:34 a.m. ET, about a car accident.

Kirk wouldn't confirm the content of Sanford's last message, but WGHP reported that Sanford posted, "The happy song makes me HAPPY!"

Sanford died on the scene after her vehicle crossed the median of I-85 and collided with a large commercial truck, according to a media release issued by police. The truck hit a tree, and its driver, identified as 73-year-old John Wallace Thompson, appeared uninjured, according to authorities.

Kirk said there were no intoxicating substances found in Sanford's body, and no difficult weather conditions on the day of the accident. Sanford had no known medical issues and there were no mechanical issues with her vehicle, said Kirk.

Police also noted that Sanford wasn't wearing her seatbelt properly at the time of the accident -- the shoulder harness wasn't in use.

CNN's Justin Lear contributed to this report.
