TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Chances are good that the Legislature will
have the same debate next year about two proposed coal-fired power
plants in southwest Kansas as it did this year.

Sunflower Electric Power hasn't given up on building the plants
in Finney County.

Since October, its plans have been blocked by Rod Bremby,
secretary of health and environment.

The issue is over the plants' potential carbon dioxide emissions
and concerns about global warming.

Elections this year could change the composition of the
Legislature.

But some important players in debates over energy policy are
unopposed for re-election and Republicans are likely to keep their
majorities in both houses, many wanting to overturn the decision.

Will you please give me the statistics on how much CO2 is in the atmosphere and how much has been added because of humans? Come on people you are being manipulated by the extreme left. Build the plants now and make sure we have enough power to get us through the next 20 years while continuing to research new technologies. If not coal plants then build nuclear plants.

I don't know if I agree with building coal plants at all, but the power should be for the state that they are located in first and then extra sold out of state with owning state getting a fee to off set future pollution. Atmosphere has to be first concern for now and the future. It is hard if not impossible to correct harm done. We must find other sources of energy to make electric power now not in the future. Our children and their children will not be able to breath and the human race will be no more.

If we were to get rid of our Governor and her apointees, Kansas would be much better off .. in many ways.
