Atchison deputy sentenced for having sex with inmate.

A former Atchison county sheriff's deputy will spend 30 days in jail for having sex with a female jail inmate.
28-year-old Travis McBride will serve the sentence in another county. He'll also serve one year of supervised probation.
McBride resigned shortly after his arrest early last month. He pleaded no-contest February 27th to one count of unlawful sexual relations with an inmate.
The felony conviction disqualifies him from working in law enforcement again.
The female inmate has accused McBride of rape and filed suit seeking $2 million dollars in damages.
County officials say the encounters were consensual.
Even so, Atchison County District Judge Martin Asher says McBride's actions violated the public's trust.
