TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) Fire officials are investigating a blaze that did damage to a Southwest Topeka home Friday morning.
Battalion Chief Chris Cervantez told 13 News that fire fighters were called to 6333 SW 32nd Street just before 2 a.m. Friday.
First responders spotted a smoldering fire on the homes rear deck.
Cervantez said the homeowner was outside when they arrived attempting to put the fire out with a garden hose.
Fire crews quickly put out the small blaze, but they had to cut into an exterior wall and the deck in order to do so.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
