Kansas Highway Patrol Car Struck By Semi

TOPEKA, Kan, (WIBW) A Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) Trooper was injured Thursday morning when his cruiser was struck by a semi along Highway 24 near Menoken Road.

The trooper, who was identified as Lt. Greg Kyser, was taken to the hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released, according to KHP's Facebook page (see post below)

The crash remains under investigation.

Officials said Kyser was sitting in his patrol car, parked in a construction area, observing traffic when the tractor-trailer rear-ended the vehicle.

The wreck shut down the US-24 in both directions for sever hours.
