A national effort to bring Americans back to their musical heritage, and stop a drop in music education in public schools, made a stop in Kansas.
About 50 Kansans lined up Friday to sing their version of "The Star Spangled Banner.'' It was part of the National Anthem Project.
There will be one winner per state. The 50 winners will be invited to perform in a concert in the nation's capital next year.
The project was started by the National Association of Music Education. Vanessa Mason says the group wants people to become
aware that music education programs are being dropped across the
country.
