TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A central Topeka police chase ends with a crash and a suspect possibly involved with an armed robbery was arrested Monday morning.

Topeka Police say that just after midnight Monday morning, officers were near 6th Summit searching for a white four-door Buick that was possibly involved in an armed robbery at the Regency Inn at 3802 S. Topeka.

When officers tried to pull over the car, the driver took off and started the pursuit. About five minutes later, the vehicle wrecked at Willow and Broadmoor. Authorities took suspect 31-year-old Justin Shumway into custody. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Officers also found a gun inside the car.

Detectives are conducting a followup investigation at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
