Holton Shooting Leaves Two Teens Injured

HOLTON, Kan. - Holton Police say at around 4:00 a.m. Kurtis Ramage, 18 years of age, of rural Holton allegedly shot Jessie Hayes, 18 of Holton and a 17 year old female also of Holton.

Members of the Holton Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriffʼs Office arrived on scene to find both victims in front of 626 Ohio Ave, home of the 17 year old female.

Ramage had fled the scene. Ramage was brought into the Sheriffʼs Office by his father.

Ramage is currently being held on two counts of attempted first degree murder along with other charges. Hayes was treated at St. Francis Hospital for his injuries and released. The female was stabilized at Stormont-Vail Hospital then transferred to KU Medical Center in Kansas City with critical injuries.

Bullets fired during the incident had also passed through the exterior wall of the neighboring residence and lodged in an interior wall. No injuries were sustained at that residence.
