A wildfire southeast of Hutchinson that firefighters had controlled has rekindled.
The blaze in western Harvey County flared up again Friday morning, sending a plume of smoke that can be seen 30 miles away. Firefighters say the flames are being fanned by 20-mile-per-hour winds, with gusts of 35 mph forecast for later today.
The smoke plume is so large it's showing up on weather radar.
Yesterday the blaze just west of Burrton was pegged at 2,200 acres. It was brought under control last night, six hours after it was first reported.
Firefighters are looking for the cause.
Harvey County has been under a burn ban for the past four weeks.
