Medicare Glitch
A lot of people get sick this time of year but for many seniors a recent Medicare crisis could leave them without the prescription drugs they need. The federal government says it's a computer glitch but many governors aren't waiting for it to be fixed.

The federal government is calling it a computer glitch and whatever it is it's creating a Medicare problem countrywide.

People who thought they were covered by the plan were told they'd have to pay a $250 deductible in order to get their prescriptions filled.

Many drug companies are blaming the federal government.

They say giving free or discounted drugs to elderly or disabled people who are getting government assistance for those drugs violates Medicare laws.

That's why many governors are taking a stand.

Kathleen Sebelius along with 13 other governors issued orders to help seniors who are unable to buy for their prescription drug.

In a statement Friday she said, ”It's appalling to hear that any Kansas senior or disabled person is being forced to go without the prescription drugs they depend on."

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty signed an executive order yesterday,”The federal government's new program is too complicated for many to understand and their implementation of their program is awful."
