Diamond officials say the contaminated food came from the company's South Carolina plant, which doesn't ship to Kansas.

But Summer Skeet of Perry says food purchased in North Topeka killed her sister's dog.

When 'Dog' stopped eating, it took only three days for his condition to go downhill.

"Right before we put him to sleep, he had bloody vomit and bloody stools," Skeet says.

Skeet and her sister assumed he'd eaten something bad and when they saw an internet story they realized it could've been his food.

"They (Diamond Pet Food) routed the lot number back to the manufacturer, they told my sister it was made in there South Carolina plant and shipped to Missouri to be packaged, that's why it has the wrong number and sell by date," Skeet says.

You can purchase the food at any independent pet or farm supply store.

Diamond officials say the food is not what caused 'Dog's' death.

"This only affects the 23 states serviced by the Gaston, South Carolina facility that are located east of the Mississippi River, so Kansas is not a part of that recall," says Diamond representative Carol Anderson.

And the company is running more tests before food leaves the plant.

Skeet says a Diamond representative offered to pay the vet bills, but that's not what her sister wants.

"She'd rather have her dog back," says Skeet, "My sister's been very upset, he was like her baby."

K-State Veterinary School will test a sample of Skeet's dog food and we'll bring those results to you as soon as we can.
