TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas leaders are in town to tour the Capital City and discuss key issues facing Kansas.

Forty members of the 2012 Leadership Kansas class are wrapping up their session in Topeka. On the agenda were visits with Gov. Sam Brownback and Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Lawton Nuss. They also visited the Statehouse and went on tours of the Frito Lay and Hills Pet Nutrition Research Center.

A banquet Thursday night featured comments from Marci Penner, who penned the "8 Wonders of Kansas" book, about the unusual and varied attractions the state has to offer.

Class members agree that this is a great way to get involved in the community.

"It's fun to learn things you've never learned before, see parts of the state that maybe you haven't seen before and certainly meet some fantastic people and great leaders around the state," said Jeff Chapman, who works for Kansas Wesleyan University.

The trip and class wraps up Friday evening with a graduation banquet at the Topeka Country Club.
